Welcome to Benki Trekkers!

Welcome to the blog of 'Benki Trekkers'.

'Benki Trekkers' is the name of our trekking group, which came into existence sometime @ the end of last year. 'Benki' in Kannada means 'Fire'; I was curious to know how the term descirbed what are doing & hence asked Nilesh [who created the group] why he chose the term 'Benki' for our group.

Here is what Nilesh had to say,"The origin could actually be traced to our trek to 'Kumara Parvatha' (KP), this was basically my second trek to KP but the first to actually conquer it completely. We were four this time including Raghu, Shashi , Reddy and me. Through out this trek Raghu kept constantly using the word 'Benki' to describe virtually everything. He was basically using it in place of "Sakkat!"(another Kannada term for expresing 'Its Great!'), it was so contageous that we all started using this term extensively in this trek. This is when I was convinced to start a trek group which is dedicated to this name 'Benki' ".

We have been trekking for a while now & have covered a quite some places within Karnataka & the neghibouring states. This blog, essentially is the space for the members of our trekking group to express their travelogues. We also plan to have refrences to all the useful information which we found the web, which helped us during our treks. We hope this information helps whom-so-ever who-is interested in exploring 'Karnataka - One State, Many Worlds'.
